Reflecting on Canadian History

If I could rewrite Canadian history, I would change the European and First Nations relationship. First, the European were in search of this new land and they were going to make a country, cites, a new home out of it, only to find these “Indians”. They wanted a world without them… they weren't white, they weren’t ‘civilized’ (The Inconvenient Indian, 2012). The Europeans developed treaties and made the First Nations people move to a specific part of land (reservations) but only for the government to use it and not give it back. Also, the Europeans founded residential schools, where the kids were taken from their families, forced to lose their culture and language. I feel disgusted that the Anglican and Catholic church would run those schools. I wish that the Europeans and First Nations built an amazing country together without all this hatred suffered.
