If you could change one thing in Canadian history what would you change and why?

I would change Canada’s decision to make residential schools, make sure that aboriginal people were treated with respect and dignity, let them practise their beliefs and live by their own free will. I would also allow children to live freely because children were taken against their will, forced to attend these schools where they were physically, emotionally and sexually abused and that’s definitely not right and it needs to be changed. I would the children grow up with their own culture and honestly just allow them to do as they please with what they believe in as long as they follow the set laws. I would change history to make Canada a peaceful country because as it seems Canada does not have such a pleasant history and I would prefer not to live in a place that once imprisoned young children due to their culture.
