Why Vote?
There were a number of aboriginal interviewed if they voted in elections, most in ottawa were pro-vote, but there were some that don’t vote. They say they don’t feel the need to because they have their own self-government, the aboriginal turnout is 16% lower than the general population. But in the Mohawk Nation at Kahnawake the number is about 0%. The secretary of the nation, Kenneth Deer said the reasons they don’t vote is because they don’t think of themselves as canadians or Quebecers, they say the canadian federal system is not theirs.
