Child Labour

Child labour is a horrible thing, it can also be known as child abuse. Over 57,000 children die each year under the age of 15 because of physical abuse. In Canada the government has made laws to prevent it, but in India they haven't done anything to help stop or even prevent it.

What is child labour?:

Child labour is forcing children under age to to work in dangerous, hazardous, and unsafe facilities in any condition. The children are usually 5-7 and work over time, the kids are unable to attend school. The conditions they work in in the factories are very dangerous and can kill lots of people. Over 75 million children have died because of child labour, and 7.25 million have been badly tortured. Child labour can be caused by child poverty or children running away from home. Children is poverty is in usually in busier cities or after wars when children are left alone.

Where is child labour occurring?:

Child labour is occurring in most of the countries with the larger population. Africa, India, and China are the #1 countries with child labour, India has estimated about 10,000 children who are labouring. In 1991 there were 11.28 million labours in India and in 2001 there were 12.59 million children working, child labour has increased by 1.31 million in only 10 years and has increased since. Child labour is usually found in3rd world countries {countries who are poor}, countries that have had earthquakes or other natural disasters have a lot of labour because they are all in poverty.

Companies that sell products of child labour:

there are over 300 different companies that have used illegal child labour. #1 Hershey's chocolate has cocoa suppliers in West India, and in South America , children are forced and tortured to work long hours and harvest the beans in the hot sun. #2 Victoria Secret has cotton, and fleece suppliers in South America, and in East India, the children are forced to harvest and use dangerous machinery to make the clothing. #3 Nike the sports company has been known to use child labour over the last 10 years, the children harvest cotton and make the fabric for all the shoes and clothing.
